Violet's Venue is Closing on November 26th.
Saturday February 1, 2014 was the opening night of Violet’s Venue featuring the highly acclaimed Samantha Fish, and marking the first of 112 shows I had the distinct pleasure of presenting over the course of the next 3 years, (actually 34 months, but who’s counting?).
Fish appeared 3 times in that period and was joined by an impressive list of sterling blues and blues tinged performers. I could start to reel off the 90 plus artists that graced the Violet’s Venue stage and name my favourites, but truth be known they were all my favourites. I personally booked all of them and I followed my heart and passion for blues and presenting shows in doing so. And it goes without saying that I did it with a great deal of pride.
Now the time has come to focus on another matter that requires my attention – my health. The health issues are such that I’m going to close the doors on Violet’s Venue.
That doesn’t mean that it’s permanent; I don’t give up that easily. While Violet’s in its current form will cease to be, I have full intentions of presenting Barrie blues shows under the Violet’s umbrella in 2017, (venue to be named later). With that in mind, please continue to stay on the mailing list so that I can provide details of upcoming acts and location.
And, I’m already planning for a second operation of Violet’s Venue in Barrie sometime in late 2017, early 2018. Rest assured that the entertainment will continue to be blues of the highest caliber, and that the prospective venue will be just as accommodating as Violet’s is today.
In the meantime, I’d like to thank the artists, my family, and, most of all, the thousands of blues fans whose support made it all possible.
Keepin’ the blues alive and kickin’,
